After a long period of harmonisation and integration of banking markets in Europe, the recent crises inevitably brought about a change in priorities and resulted in weakened cross-border inter-bank lending and greater home-biased asset portfolio of banks.

This workshop gives opportunities for leading academics and policy makers to discuss the effects of Brexit and fragmentation of banking markets on SMEs鈥� financing. New challenges and opportunities of SMEs鈥� financing are also discussed in light of the EU policy agenda that includes the creation of a Capital Markets Union.
