The ÌÇÐÄVlog Syria in Transition project is pleased to highlight the first session in a new academic series titled Syria in Transition: Challenges and Priorities, which examines core issues shaping Syria’s post-conflict trajectory. This inaugural session will focus on Transitional Justice in Syria: Between Accountability and Reconciliation, exploring the conceptual foundations of transitional justice and the challenges of its implementation in the Syrian context.
Panellists will address challenges surrounding accountability, legal reform, displacement, and gender justice, with an emphasis on the tension between justice and reconciliation. They will also reflect on inclusive participation in transitional justice processes, constitutional reform, and the lessons learned from international experiences.
This seven-week seminar series is organised by the , in collaboration with the , the , and Syrians in Transition project at ÌÇÐÄVlog. The sessions will be conducted in Arabic and are aimed at Syrian academics, students, researchers, civil society actors and people—both inside Syria and across the diaspora—interested in engaging with critical issues shaping Syria’s transitional phase.
This series will produce in a series of blog posts in English to share our findings and discussions with a broader audience.
The sessions will be held weekly on Mondays at 16:00 Damascus time / 14:00 UK time, and are open to all. For participants based in Syria, select community centres hosted by the Sanad team will offer facilitated group viewings and post-session discussions.
