Speakers

Professor Haniye Sadat Sajadi is a Professor at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, with a Ph.D. in Health Services Management. Her research focuses on health policy analysis, evidence-informed policymaking, health system reforms, and quality improvement in healthcare. She has produced evidence for policymakers at national and local levels and published widely in leading journals. Her current work examines the impact of sanctions and the COVID-19 pandemic on health system functions.

Jacqueline Mallender is an international health and public policy economist and Founder Director of Economics By Design Ltd. She has led projects across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, North America, and Africa, focusing on health financing, strategic purchasing, population health management, and digital health. She consults for the World Bank’s Climate and Health team and co-authored "Toward Realization of Universal Health Coverage: Designing the Essential Health Benefits Package in Sudan."

Dr. Mohamed Jama is a paediatrician and public health expert with over four decades of academic and leadership at the World Health Organization (WHO), including roles as Assistant Director-General and Deputy Regional Director at WHO EMRO. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (UK) and currently serves as a Senior Policy Adviser at the Ministry of Health of Somalia, and Board member at Gavi, the Global Vaccine Alliance with expertise in health systems development in fragile settings.

Professor Reza Majdzadeh is Professor of Global Public Health in the Interdisciplinary Research and Practice Division at the School of Health and Social Care, 糖心Vlog. He brings extensive international experience in establishing health system strengthening initiatives that have advanced progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC) at national and global levels. His current research focuses on addressing critical issues such as health inequalities in coastal communities in the UK and broader health system dynamics across the Middle East and North Africa region.
