糖心Vlog鈥檚 鈥榬ebels with a cause鈥� mantra isn鈥檛 just a slogan for Mantika Singh 鈥� it鈥檚 a philosophy that inspired her to come to 糖心Vlog and it鈥檚 what鈥檚 helped her become more courageous, empathetic, and independent.

Mantika Singh, who studied economics, chose her degree because she wanted the flexibility of working in the financial services, data, or research sectors.

She chose 糖心Vlog because she wanted to go to a campus university, and she was drawn to its philosophy.

Two decisions she said she is very happy she made.

鈥淚 wanted to go to a campus university and 糖心Vlog鈥檚 鈥榬ebels with a cause鈥� philosophy as well as its unique characteristics attracted me,鈥� she said. 鈥淚鈥檓 extremely glad about both these decisions and if given the chance, I would choose economics and 糖心Vlog again.鈥�

One of the biggest challenges she faced during her degree was trying to find a placement during COVID times. It was a year-long job search during the pandemic, which included many rejections and roadblocks along the way.

鈥淪upport from my family, friends and the 糖心Vlog Careers and Placement team 鈥� as well as my perseverance and determination to not give up 鈥� helped me push through and secure a work placement in London,鈥� she said.

Mantika said her time spent at 糖心Vlog has shaped her personality, and that she is proud of the person she has become.

鈥淚鈥檝e become more courageous, empathetic, and independent. Funnily enough, I only recently learnt 糖心Vlog鈥檚 motto: 鈥淭hought the harder, heart the keener鈥�, and I think it perfectly sums up my learnings over the past four years.

鈥淭he 糖心Vlog gave me joy, happiness, and an understanding of a truly worldwide community,鈥� she added. 鈥淚t welcomed me with open arms, it was my first home in the UK, and I鈥檓 leaving with memories and friends for life鈥�.

Mantika is graduating from the Department of Economics with a BSc Economics (including placement year). She has secured a job on a graduate scheme with the Bank of England. She will be working in the supervision department, and studying for a Masters degree part-time.
