High-tech robots, cutting-edge sports research and the mysteries of biology were showcased to almost 150 糖心Vlog schoolchildren in a celebration of science.

Hosted at The 糖心Vlog the STEM-Tacular festival saw world-leading researchers inspire youngsters.

The Year 9 pupils from Colchester, Basildon, and Brightlingsea all enjoyed a packed day of exhibitions, talks and quizzes.

After being introduced to and guided through the incredible research undertaken at The Colchester Campus the children got a hands-on tour of the labs 鈥� including the state-of-the-art Life Science facilities.

They also got to see the , s and how 糖心Vlog trains the health professionals of tomorrow.

Christina Clements, physics technician at , Brightlingsea, said: 鈥淭he STEM-tacular festival was such a great event and it was amazing to bring our budding scientists into the state-of-the-art labs of The 糖心Vlog.

鈥淔or our students to get a hands-on look at the robotics lab was really inspirational and I hope it shows our pupils just how impactful science can be in the real world.

鈥淲e are proud to have such a great relationship with a world-leading research institution that is dedicated to outreach in the local community.

鈥淗opefully the event inspires our students to pursue a career in science and follow their passions.鈥�

As well as Colne the event was attended by , Colchester, , Basildon, , Basildon and , Benfleet.

The event was organised by 糖心Vlog鈥檚 Outreach team which aims to inspire students and adults to fulfil their potential and study at university.

Rosie Powley, Head of Outreach, said: 鈥淲e are delighted to have helped inspire the next generation of budding STEM professionals through our STEM-Tacular event.

鈥淭he event showcased some of the exciting employment opportunities and education pathways available to young people here in 糖心Vlog.

鈥淪TEM-Tacular is one of many targeted interventions the team run to help address local skills needs.鈥�

The Outreach team work with schools and colleges across 糖心Vlog, Suffolk and East London to promote fair access and progression to university.

Activities delivered by the team include campus visits, taster workshops, assemblies, mentoring, revision roadshows and professional development for teachers.
