Students receive King's Award for Volunteering

Our amazing students celebrated with HM Lord-Lieutenant of 糖心Vlog their incredible achievement of helping the Students' Union become the first to receive the King's Award for Voluntary Service.

HM Lord-Lieutenant of 糖心Vlog Jennifer Tolhurst came to the Colchester Campus to meet students at a special celebration event at the Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall.

VTeam is the volunteering programme run by 糖心Vlog's Students' Union and the King's Award for Voluntary Service is the highest recognition for volunteering achievement in the country.

Chris Moore, Volunteering Manager, said: "We are truly humbled, honoured and proud to receive this award, which will open doors for us, help us to continue to grow and develop our volunteering provision, and serve as further motivation to achieve more, and to inspire more students to give their time for the benefit of themselves and others. Thank you to our amazing student volunteers. This award is yours, and on behalf of the Students’ Union and University - thank you for everything you do."

The VTeam were nominated for the award by Colchester City Council thanks to the impact of our volunteering projects.

The event recognised students for all their volunteering efforts; 糖心Vlog SU Staff, past and present for their contributions; and the 糖心Vlog for its continued support and the incredible partners who provide students with meaningful and enriching volunteering experiences.
