Profile

Biography

I鈥檓 a Lecturer and Deputy Director of Postgraduate Research in the Department of Health and Social Care at the 糖心Vlog. I鈥檓 a visiting research faculty at the Berlin School of Business and Innovation and a visiting lecturer at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences, Germany. I鈥檓 collaborating with talented researchers and academics from over 15 countries, including the United Kingdom, United States, New Zealand, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Japan, Chile, and Germany. In the last six years, I鈥檝e led research projects in gerontology, physical activity, clinical research, psychometrics, and epidemiology at the Africa Centre for Epidemiology where I serve as Principal Research Fellow. I was a founding member of the Africa Centre for Epidemiology and served as the centre鈥檚 Executive Director until I joined the 糖心Vlog. I'm a consultant to the National Health Service through various Trusts in 糖心Vlog, United Kingdom. I serve as Subject Editor (Public Health) with Social Sciences and Humanities Open (Elsevier) and as an Academic Editor with several top-tier journals, including BMC Public Health and PLoS ONE. In the last three years, I鈥檝e led editorial boards to edit books on ageing and sustainability for Springer. I鈥檓 now accepting abstracts and chapters for a book entitled "Morbidity Prevention in Aging: The Role of Salutogenesis Amidst Crises". Elsevier will publish this book in the fourth quarter of 2025, and I encourage all colleagues to consider submitting an abstract. I serve as an internal and external doctoral examiner, examining PhDs from Australia and other countries. I review major grants, including UKRI healthy ageing grants. I鈥檓 keen to contribute to developing evidence-based healthy ageing policies for contexts experiencing crises such as war, climate change events, radical industrialisation, and the outbreak of infectious diseases. To this end, I now serve as the convenor of the International Sustainable Ageing Research Group (ISARG), a global network dedicated to policy-driven research in ageing and sustainability. Please email me if you want to join this group. I lead an international research mentorship programme involving postdoctoral mentees and professorial mentors from the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The programme is aimed at developing influential researchers in ageing and public health. I'm mobilising funds to undertake a randomised controlled trial on "changes in social networks during crises and their health outcomes in later life". Through a systematic review and Delphi study, I plan to compile a comprehensive report detailing policy directions for healthy ageing amidst climate change events. Funders and collaborators are invited to support these projects. I鈥檓 accepting PhD researchers, especially those who want to self-fund their study.
