Biography
Rob Davey has been the Director of Sustainability since 2022. Rob is an experienced sustainability leader, strategy developer and subject matter expert. Rob leads the University's approach to sustainability and carbon emission reduction, including strategy, policy and long-term enhancement planning. His area of responsibility includes management of combined budgets in excess of 拢10m per annum. In his current role Rob has developed the University's Sustainability Sub-Strategy, Heat Decarbonisation Plan and approach to recording a reducing the University's Scope 3 emissions, placing us as a leading institution in this regard. Through Robs professional leadership he has reduced the University's scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by over 30% since 2019-20, gas use by 35% and reduced the University's spend on Utilities by over 拢1.7m per annum. During Robs time as Director of Sustainability the University has reached a high of 54th in the world from over 2,000 institutions on our progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Prior to this Rob was Head of Sustainability and Grounds and oversaw the Universitys sustainability, travel and transport, fleet management and grounds functions. Rob developed the University's Travel Plans and approach to fleet management. Prior to this Rob served as the University's Grounds Manager and developed the University's External Estates Management Plan, Conservation Statement, Conservation Plan and Strategic Overview. Rob chairs the University's Environmental Sustainability Advisory Group (ESAG) and is an integral part of the Universitys Project Coordination Group.
