Profile
Biography
I am a marine and freshwater biologist, particularly interested in the interactions between microbes (algae - mainly diatoms, and bacteria), dissolved organic matter (DOC, DOM), nutrient cycling, biogeochemistry, and responses to environmental pressures (climate change, pollution). My research interests range from microbial diversity and function, primary production and organic carbon fluxes, through to whole catchment functioning, natural capital and ecosystem services, and approaches to seascape restoration. With a particular focus on estuaries and coasts, I am working with a wide body of partners (Government, statutory and environment NGOs) on how we can create sustainable and resilient coastal seascapes in the face of climate change, biodiversity crisis and sea level rise pressures.
