Biography

Dr Konstantinos Kalliris joined the School of Law in October 2019. Previously, he was a Senior Lecturer (VC2020) at Leicester De Montfort Law School and a Visiting Lecturer at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London. His research focuses on the tension between law and freedom, especially in the context of paternalism and perfectionism. He is also working on the study of criminal justice systems, organised crime, and corruption. He holds a DPhil in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford (2011) and a PhD in Criminology from the University of Athens (2019). He has taught Jurisprudence and Legal Theory at King's College London and the University of Oxford, as well as Criminal Law at the University of London. Konstantinos is currently supervising a project which studies the effects of recent cuts to legal aid in England and Wales. The project is funded by the British Academy. He is a member of the Athens Bar Association and has practised law since 2003. Konstantinos did postdoctoral work at the University of Frankfurt (as a DAAD Scholar) and King's College London (as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Global Health Justice).
