Internal Application Review

As part of its commitment to increasing research income, the University has in place a minimum standard for the internal review of research proposals that fall within certain criteria, to ensure that we take a consistent approach at an institutional level and provide appropriate support to strengthen the quality of our funding applications.

Process

The internal review process requires applicants to seek feedback from academic colleagues on their grant applications where the 糖心Vlog is the lead institution for a research application and any of the following criteria apply:

  1. Any application over 拢100k [1] in value to one of the following funders:
    • UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Research Councils [2]
    • Nuffield Foundation
    • Leverhulme Trust
    • Wellcome Trust;
    • National Institute of Health Research (NIHR)
    • Cancer Research UK (CRUK)
    • British Academy
    • Horizon Europe
  2. The scheme has been identified to be strategically important by the PVC (Research).
  3. The Funder allows only a limited number of applications - sifting and selection isa requirement.
  4. There is a financial or resource implication for the University (match-funding, Host Institution Commitment (HIC, or other).

Applications to these funders will not normally be submitted until internal review has been carried out and recorded on RCP. You can read the full Internal Review Process Guidance for more detail.
