• Maria has completed her fourth monograph provisionally entitled Derek Walcott's Painters for which she was awarded a Major Research Fellowship by the Leverhulme Trust (2016-2019). on Derek Walcott and Peter Doig, Paramin, Morning for Wasafiri.
• 2016-2018 - Reconceptualizing troubled border relations: promoting cross-border collaboration, cooperation and solidarity between Haiti and the Dominican Republic in the wake of the denationalization crisis in Hispaniola.
