Our school runs seminars weekly during term to discuss a paper by a visiting philosopher, historian, art historian, or member of our academic staff. They're open to all, and if you'd like to attend a session, or join us weekly, all seminar information will be added to our

Society events

The Society for Women in Philosophy is a society for staff and students who identify as women. They have meetings and socials throughout the year, and organise a Women in Philosophy speaker series. For more information and to join, please email Dr Lorna Finlayson on ljfinl@essex.ac.uk.

Exhibitions and Conferences

Visit the  who run free exhibitions by major artists throughout the year, often in association with our School.

Our yearly MA Curating students' exhibition opens at Art Exchange in the Summer, with an opening party and a programme of talks and events. 

You can also attend our Annual Graduate Conferences, organised by our postgraduate students. 

Reading Groups 

The Critical Theory Colloquium meets fortnightly during term to discuss classic and current work in critical theory and work-in-progress. Please contact Professor Fabian Freyenhagen on ffrey@essex.ac.uk to join.
