PDEs @ 糖心Vlog 2025

We are excited to bring together researchers in the fields of Regularity Theory of PDEs and Calculus of Variations for this three-day event.

The goal of this meeting is to encourage discussions that may lead to meaningful connections between diverse approaches to the study of PDEs. We hope this gathering will inspire new collaborations and build lasting connections among participants.

This workshop is organised by the Analysis and Mathematical Physics group within the School of Mathematics, Statistics, and Actuarial Science at the 糖心Vlog.

Please if you plan to attend the workshop, scheduled for June 16–18, 2025, at the 糖心Vlog (Colchester), UK.

Registration is free but required. Financial support is available on a first-come, first-served basis for PhD students and early career researchers. PhD students and early career researchers are also encouraged to apply for the opportunity to present a 25-minute short talk. The deadline for funding and short talk applications is 1 March 2025. This workshop is partially funded by the EPSRC (EP/W001586/1).

If you expect to incur any costs related to caring responsibilities (including but not limited to childcare or care for others) in order to attend the workshop, it may be possible to reimburse these up to a certain amount. Please contact Murat Akman (murat.akman@essex.ac.uk) as soon as possible.

Accommodation and travel

Accommodation

If your accommodation will be covered by us, we will contact you and provide further details. Otherwise, the following hotels are a good option. Those who have their own funding are very welcome to attend our workshop but they should arrange their own travel and accommodation.

  • . This is on the campus and 10 minutes from the workshop room.

These hotels are in Colchester and it would take about 40 to 50 minutes to walk to the campus. There are direct buses from Colchester to the campus or you can take a taxi which would cost around £12 depending on the location.

Directions

  • By train: Greater Anglia provides frequent trains from London Liverpool Street to Colchester (also known as Colchester North). The train journey from Liverpool Street takes just under an hour and you can get a bus or taxi from the station to the campus.
  • By driving: The postcode is CO4 3SQ, however when you arrive in Colchester, follow road signs to the University (off the A133) to access to main visitor car parks, which is via the B1028, Colchester Road.
  • By flying: The closest airport is Stansted Airport. The quickest way to travel is by National Express using the 250 service which runs directly to and from our campus. Alternatively, there is a local bus x133 to Colchester town centre, but this can take longer and you will need to get a bus or taxi from the town to campus.
