Dementia: Fundamentals of Care in Acute Settings (DemFoCAS) is a 3-year partnership project between the 糖心Vlog (UoE) and East Suffolk and North 糖心Vlog Foundation Trust (ESNEFT).

The purpose of the project is to evaluate current care provision at ESNEFT acute hospital care settings with a focus upon fundamentals of care for patients living with dementia. The project plans to highlight areas for improvement using a service improvement design, to inform the development of dementia services and identify areas of research. The project aims to highlight areas of activities and propose changes that are relevant and achievable.

The deployed methodology is a mixed methods case study design, over two acute sites at ESNEFT, namely Colchester and Ipswich hospital. The project is informed through Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) and is informed using the Donabedian model for service improvement.
