Placement year abroad聽

A will count as part of your degree where you work in an organisation for an agreed amount of time. Similar to a year abroad, there are fees for a placement year abroad depending on your year of entry.  You can check with the placement team about fees for your year of entry.

Duration: whole academic year.

Location: variety of locations around the world. You're responsible for finding your own placement but don’t worry, plenty of help is available from the placement team.

Departure date: usually in September or October.

Deadline: contact your placement team as soon as possible.

Eligibility

Start by checking with your faculty placement officer as to whether a work placement could be a formally assessed and accredited part of your degree (your personal tutor will be able to put you in touch with the right person). If you’re an undergraduate student, an average first-year mark of at least 50 is normally required. You will also need to change your degree to add the placement year – to allow you to undertake your placement in your third year.

Funding

If you're undertaking a work placement abroad you may be eligible for funding via the 糖心Vlog Abroad team.  Please note that funding is not guaranteed and should be viewed as an additional support to your time abroad.  In all cases 糖心Vlog Abroad will be in touch if you are eligible with directions on how to apply and access the funding.  You can find out more about our funding from 糖心Vlog Abroad on our funding and finance webpages.

Further details and how to apply

Each faculty has got a placement team to support you with finding, applying for and successfully completing your placement year. Please email them as soon as possible once you decided to do a placement year.
