• South Courts, The Towers, The Houses and Wolfson Court: take your student registration card to the Student Services Hub between 9.15am and 5pm to get a new keycard or fob. Contact security outside these hours at the Security and Safety Centre on Square 3.
• The Meadows and The Copse: take your student registration card to reception in The Poplars building at The Copse to get a new key or fob. Outside office hours contact security on 07460373172 if the reception is temporarily unmanned.
• University Quays: take your student registration card to reception in Matthews Quay to get a new key or fob. Outside office hours visit Security in Hawkins Quay 2 or phone on 07460 373172 if the office is temporarily unmanned.
• The Pastures: take your registration card to reception in The Saltmarsh building at The Pastures. Outside of office hours, if the desk is temporarily unmanned, contact security on 07385935610.
• University Square, Southend: take your student registration card to reception to get a new keycard. Outside office hours, if the desk is temporarily unmanned, phone security on 01702 328408.

Paying for your replacement

When you receive your replacement key/keycard/fob, you'll be invoiced for £15 for a key/keycard or £5 for a fob or window key (£20 for a fob at The Pastures)  and £8 for a post box key, which must be paid within seven days. You can pay at the Income Desk at your Student Services Hub, open Monday to Friday from 9.15am to 5pm. If you find your original key/keycard/fob and return it to us within three months of losing it, we will refund the fee.

Locked out of your accommodation 

If you're locked out of your accommodation, don't worry, we will do our best to get you back in to your room as soon as possible.

However, please remember, door locks can sometimes lock automatically, so please do try to keep your fob/key on you at all times, even if you are popping out to the kitchen, to help prevent you being locked out in future:

• University Square, Southend: take your student registration card to reception to get a new keycard.

Broken keycard

If your keycard or fob is broken please take the pieces to the relevant location for a free replacement.
